The context
The 69th Grammy Awards start in earnest on Monday, November 16, 2026, when the Recording Academy announces nominees in all 100 categories from 7:45 a.m. ET on Grammy.com and YouTube. The ceremony follows on Sunday, February 7, 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. For the first time it will air on ABC, with streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, after decades on CBS.
Eligible music was released between August 31, 2025 and August 28, 2026, a window that takes in Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, Rosalía’s Lux and Olivia Rodrigo’s third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. Those three, plus Olivia Dean, Noah Kahan, Bruno Mars and Raye, feature in most early Album of the Year predictions. The top categories keep eight nominees each.
The rulebook brings five new categories: Best Asian Pop Music Performance, Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance, Best Traditional Folk Album and Best Latin Song. The Academy also rewrote the Best New Artist criteria. No host has been named; Trevor Noah’s sixth ceremony in February 2026 was billed as his last.
The bar was set high last time: on February 1, 2026, Bad Bunny won Album of the Year with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, the first Spanish-language album to do so, and Olivia Dean was named Best New Artist. Before the Grammys, the season continues with the Latin Grammys and the CMA Awards in November.
