New York Fashion Week September 2026: Dates, Schedule and Shows

Zankov worked at DVF between 2014 and 2018 before launching his own label ZANKOV, won the CFDA American Emerging Designer of the Year award in 2024, and returned to the house as artistic director in May 2026. Not for the official ones. Shows on the CFDA schedule are invitation-only industry events for buyers, press, stylists and clients, and there is no public box office. What the public can access is the parallel ecosystem: independent producers, showcase events and pop-ups that sell tickets during the same week, which are not the same thing as a Michael Kors runway show.

Friday September 11, 2026 is the 25th anniversary of the attacks, and the CFDA has pushed that day's schedule to start at 10 a.m. out of respect. Across Manhattan, not in one venue. Since the end of the Lincoln Center era, New York shows have scattered: Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, downtown galleries and lofts, Brooklyn waterfront spaces, and occasionally a designer's own store or studio. Each brand books its own location, which is why the schedule reads as much as a logistics problem as a calendar.

Paris, by commercial weight and by the size of the houses that show there. The month runs in a fixed order every season: New York, then London, then Milan, then Paris, with Paris closing in early October. New York's argument is commercial American sportswear and a strong emerging-designer pipeline rather than luxury megabrands.

It is a genuine debate in the industry. New York has lost designers to the European calendar over the past decade, and its biggest names are commercial brands rather than the couture houses that draw global attention to Paris and Milan. The counter-argument is the one visible on this schedule: an unusually deep bench of new names, and enough international designers, Sabyasachi and Magda Butrym among them, choosing New York to show that the pipeline is not dry.
