Jimmy Dore
Jimmy Dore is a stand-up comedian and firebrand political commentator who built a mass following by attacking both parties with equal aggression, and paid a social price for it.
Jimmy Dore is a Chicago-born stand-up comedian who became one of the most polarizing voices in American left-wing media. He rose to prominence as a contributor and host on The Young Turks network before launching The Jimmy Dore Show as an independent YouTube and podcast operation. His willingness to criticize Democratic Party leadership as harshly as Republicans set him apart, and eventually alienated him from much of progressive media.
Dore is best known for his “Force the Vote” campaign in late 2020, in which he demanded that progressive members of Congress use their leverage during the Speaker vote to extract a floor vote on Medicare for All. The push sparked a massive public fight with figures like AOC and caused a lasting rift within left-media circles. His critics accused him of giving cover to the right; his supporters praised him as one of the only voices willing to call out Democratic hypocrisy without flinching.
Over time, Dore’s guest list and editorial line drifted further outside mainstream left politics. He began hosting and platforming guests associated with the anti-establishment right, Tucker Carlson, Glenn Greenwald, and others, framing it as anti-war, anti-empire coalition-building. To his detractors, it looked like a slow walk toward right-wing media. To his fans, it confirmed he was never a partisan but a genuine outsider.
His YouTube channel has accumulated millions of subscribers and he continues to tour as a stand-up comedian, releasing comedy specials and performing live shows. He remains one of the most-searched independent political commentators in the United States, precisely because he refuses to stay in any lane his audience expects.
