Luka Dončić
Luka Dončić is the NBA's most unstoppable scorer, now a Los Angeles Laker and locked in for the next chapter of what already looks like a Hall of Fame career.
Luka Dončić is a Slovenian professional basketball player who plays point guard/shooting guard in the NBA. He rose to global fame as a teenage prodigy at Real Madrid, winning an EuroLeague championship and MVP before he was old enough to buy a beer in the US. Drafted 3rd overall by Atlanta and immediately traded to Dallas in 2018, he redefined what a 19-year-old could do in the league.
In Dallas, Dončić became the cornerstone of the Mavericks franchise, racking up 5× All-NBA First Team selections, multiple All-Star appearances, and an NBA scoring title. His combination of size, vision, and shot-making has drawn comparisons to the all-time greats from the moment he stepped on an NBA floor.
The biggest off-season shock in recent memory came in February 2025, when the Mavericks traded Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster deal centered on Anthony Davis going the other way. Dončić responded with a monster first full season in purple and gold, averaging around 37 points per game. In August 2025 he signed a three-year extension worth approximately $165 million, cementing his place as the Lakers’ undisputed franchise player.
People search for Dončić constantly, not just for his on-court exploits but for his personal life, his physique (body-weight debates have followed him throughout his career), and his relationship status, which has attracted tabloid attention. On the international stage, he remains Slovenia’s greatest basketball export, having led the country to the EuroBasket 2017 title.
