Colin Farrell
Colin Farrell is the Irish actor, from In Bruges to The Penguin, back in the spotlight in 2026 with Sugar season 2 and his return as Oswald Cobblepot in The Batman Part II.
Colin Farrell is an Irish actor born on 31 May 1976 in Castleknock, a suburb on the western side of Dublin. He first found fame in the early 2000s, but it is his later reinvention as a fearless character actor that has defined his career.
Roles in In Bruges, The Lobster and especially The Banshees of Inisherin, which earned him a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination, cemented his reputation as one of the finest screen actors of his generation. A new audience discovered him as the grotesque, scene-stealing Oswald Cobblepot in The Batman and the Emmy-recognised spin-off series The Penguin.
In 2026 he is firmly back in the conversation: the second season of the Apple TV+ thriller Sugar sees him return as the mysterious private investigator John Sugar, while he is also set to reprise the Penguin in The Batman Part II.
Now based in Los Angeles, Farrell remains proudly Irish and is as known for his candour about his career and personal life as for the range of his performances.
