Kane Parsons
Kane Parsons, known online as Kane Pixels, is the American filmmaker behind the viral Backrooms found-footage series, now moving into feature films.
Kane Parsons, better known online as Kane Pixels, is an American filmmaker, animator and visual-effects artist. He became famous in January 2022 when his short film The Backrooms (Found Footage) went viral on YouTube, racking up tens of millions of views with its convincing late-1990s camcorder look and creeping dread.
What made his work stand out was the craft: cinema-grade visual effects built largely in Blender, the free 3D software, by a self-taught teenager. The series expanded the Backrooms mythos into a coherent, genuinely cinematic universe, far beyond the single eerie photo that started the concept online in 2019.
Parsons has since moved from viral shorts toward professional filmmaking, attached to direct a feature adaptation of The Backrooms reported to be backed by A24. He remains one of the most closely watched young directors to emerge from internet horror.
